At Freedom Counselling, I offer specialist counselling support for spinal cord injury (SCI) over the phone or via video call. I provide dedicated mental health and emotional support not only to individuals who have experienced SCI directly, but also to family members, friends, and caregivers who may be indirectly affected.
Living with a spinal cord injury presents many challenges. Coming to terms with both the physical health impacts and the life-changing consequences can have a significant effect on your mental health. Because I have personal, lived experience of SCI, I am able to offer a unique perspective and understanding. As a fully qualified, registered, and accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the College of Sex and Relationship Therapy (COSRT), I practice within their individual ethical frameworks offering both short-term and long-term therapy throughout the United Kingdom.
I am here to listen to your concerns and provide the support you need and with my specialist knowledge of SCI, I can also help guide you to other useful services that may benefit you.
If you think you, someone you know, or a client under your care as a case manager could benefit from talking therapy with someone who truly understands SCI, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with me directly.
Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.
In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.
Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds and shall find me unafraid.
It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate,
I am the captain of my soul.
William Ernest Henley
